The first technological innovation of corrugating machine took place in the late 1980s. The single-side corrugating machine began to replace the traditional single-machine production of corrugated cardboard. The 1980s is the golden age of China's single-machine corrugator industry. However, with the rapid development of science and technology, this single production process can no longer meet the needs of market development. The emergence of single-side corrugator has greatly improved the production efficiency and product quality.

The second technological innovation in the corrugated machinery industry began in the 1990s. The use of corrugated board production line made the produced board more flat, low moisture content, crisp corrugated, good quality and fast speed, which provided a good quality guarantee for the back forming process of cartons. The earliest corrugated cardboard production line was introduced from Japan and Italy by Shanghai No. 1 Carton Factory, Beijing Carton Factory and Changzhou Carton Factory, and some enterprises from Taiwan. Since then, China has begun to produce its own corrugated cardboard production line.
